| The Mathematics department at Rose Bay Secondary College has a long-standing reputation for achieving excellent results in both the School Certificate and Higher School Certificate. These results are achieved by hard working students, supported by experienced and enthusiastic teachers who are always willing to help and advise. Success is the key word in the schools teaching of mathematics. All students, regardless of their ability level are given the opportunity to succeed. This is dependant upon placement of students at an appropriate level of mathematics and consistent work throughout the year, both in class and at home. A full range of course levels is offered in each year as well as a Year 9 enrichment elective, and a Year 10 Preparing for Year 11 course. All students are given the opportunity to undertake extension activities to allow them to gain a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. Every year the more able senior students successfully study the demanding Extension 2 course which starts in Term 4, Year 11. Students across all years are also encouraged to enter the annual University of NSW Australian Schools Mathematical Competition. TOP |
