| Computing is delivered in many guises at RBSC, a methodology that reflects its importance in all aspects of workplaces and the community. In years 7-8, computing skills are embedded as information, communication and technology (ICT) skills in all subjects. Our staff is continually educated in ICT areas through a strong Professional Learning program. This program ensures that staff qualifications in this volatile area are current. ICT will assist students to achieve educational outcomes more efficiently and with greater quality through the development of analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills to cope with expanding access to computerised/digital information. In years 8-10, computing skills are delivered as information, software and technology (IST) skills via various electives available to the selective and comprehensive streams. RBSC has chosen software design and development, digital graphics and robotics using LEGO Mindstorm, as focus areas. This focus differentiates computing skills, with their background in mathematics and logic, from the ICT skills that will continue to be embedded across the curriculum. In years 11-12 students can choose from: - A business and skills-oriented course, Computing Applications, that does not contribute to a UAI but delivers business application skills
- A vocational course, Information Technology, that provides credit towards TAFE accreditation in IT and contributes to a UAI
- Information Processes and Technology, a UAI course acquainting students with information systems and their impact on various world systems, including the business world
- Software Design and Development, which prepares students for tertiary education by providing grounding in the skills needed at TAFE and in engineering, computer science and information technology at university.
