Careers Activities 2009

Most of these have been organised by Sydney Local Community Partnership (LCP), which is a not-for-profit community based organisation dedicated to helping young people in this area gain the skills, experience and information they need to make informed decisions about their future.

Parents and students can find out more about these activities and, in some cases, book places via the

LCP website: www.sydneylcp.com.au

There are also some very good careers resources available on the website.

How to book a place: In most cases contact Mr Bollard:

paul.bollard@det.nsw.edu.au or 93010321

or contact the LCP through the website

Work Experience 2009

The program is primarily for Year 10 students but students in Year 9 and 11 may also in some cases take part. Work experience can take place at any time during the year. Participating students will miss classes and must catch up on missed work.

Year 10 students can also do work experience in Weeks 7 and 8 – November 30th – December 11th after their examinations

To arrange students must get a form from Mr Bollard and arrange for the employer to complete. It must also be completed by a parent and approved by the school.

Please contact Mr Bollard if you have any questions:

See Careers Noticeboard for some positions available now.

Career Voyage

Career Voyage, a computer-based career guidance program, is available to help students make decisions about their futures. It is an excellent launching pad into planning and thinking about the world of work that provides the students with a suggested range of suitable jobs. At Year 10 level, Career Voyage is useful in helping decide on work experience placements or selecting appropriate senior school subjects. At years 11 and 12 level, it is useful in choosing or confirming future work and post-secondary study options.

Students interested in doing the program are asked to make an appointment with careers adviser, Paul Bollard.
