| Rose Bay Secondary College is fortunate to have a very active and dedicated parent community. The P&C Association helps to ensure that communication between parents, teachers and students is effective and productive for the benefit of the school as a whole. The association also plays a crucial role by supporting the school financially through activities such as the canteen and uniform, and politically by lobbying on behalf of the school. Meetings P&C meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm. The meetings are open to all parents and are an ideal way to have valuable input into the school decision-making process. You will find they are also an excellent source of information about the school. The principal gives an update of events and there is often a speaker, such as one of the head teachers, discussing matters such as reporting or changes in the syllabus. The meetings also cover issues such as fundraising, uniform and school facilities. Participating in the P&C is a great way to meet and make friends with other parents at the school. TOP Fundraising activities The canteen and uniform shop are the major fundraisers for the school. They are run by the P&C with a small group of paid employees and depend on the support of parent volunteers. They provide strong financial support for our educational programs. Every time we buy a uniform from the uniform shop or our children buy lunch from the canteen we are directly supporting our school. And we are always on the look out for new fundraising ideas. Our most regular fundraising activity is a BBQ usually once a term at the Sunday markets at Bondi Beach Public School. The funds raised at each BBQ are usually targeted for specific groups within the school, such as the band. The school council is a representative body of the school executive, teachers, support (SASS) staff, students, parents and the community. Its aims and objectives are to: - encourage and promote community understanding of the college and maintain a high level of community participation in the college
- assist the Principal and staff on matters relating to college policy, goals, needs and priorities for general college organisation
- make recommendations on matters of college budgets
- assist and advise on the community use of the college's grounds and buildings.
School council meetings are held at least once a term -more often as the need arises-and the council reports regularly to the membership of the P&C association, working closely with it. Download the school council's constitution >> TOP |
