Library

The library is a multifunctional centre within the college, combining spaces, resources and services to support the varied activities of the school community.

It provides a welcoming and attractive alternative for quiet recreation and personal reading interests, with space for groups or individuals to relax. Library arrangement and facilities allow more flexible teaching of classes or small groups and its print, video and electronic resources and computer network technologies provide breadth, depth and versatility important to meet the needs of many learning abilities and styles.

Individual students are assisted to become more skilful and discerning researchers, and recreational reading is promoted for their personal growth and enhanced learning outcomes.

The teacher librarian also works collaboratively with teachers across the curriculum to achieve syllabus outcomes, particularly those relating to information literacy.

In the school library, students are able to explore the world beyond the local horizon, to engage in active and effective learning, and to enrich their understanding through imaginative fictional experiences

The school library is open 9am to 3.30pm, including recess and lunchtimes. Students may borrow a wide range of resources from overnight magazines to books for two weeks, with options to renew loans and with increased borrowing limits in senior years.
